A vertical tricolor, brown-blue-green, with a white cog wheel on the brown stripe, a green five-branched leaf and the word FRESNO in brown on the blue stripe, and a white-rimmed yellow sun on the green stripe.
While the image shown above matches the flag ranked by NAVA, the flag actually flown in Fresno is different in proportions and shades, as shown on a photo taken on 16 August 2009 by "jenrich81" and posted on Flickr on 17 August 2009 (www.flickr.com/photos/jenrich81/3832287579/). There the proportions are 1:2, and the colors are red instead of brown, white or light blue instead of blue, and green. The writing of FRESNO is red instead of brown.
Fresno means "ash tree" in Spanish, a reference to the white ashes that grew profusely on the site of the town. The leaf in the middle of the flag matches an ash leaf and is therefore, most probably, a canting element.
