Village of Frankfort, Illinois, "A community with 1890s charm", a suburb of Chicago, established in 1855 by New Englanders and German settlers, has a population of about 10,000.

Frankfort, Illinois was established by two men from Joliet who were involved in the building of the Joliet & Northern Indiana Railroad. The New England and German settlers came after the town had been platted.
