Description of the flag

The Kentucky State Police is a department of the Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet. Founded in 1948, the Kentucky State Police (KSP) replaced the original Kentucky Highway Patrol. The KSP were initially modeled after the Pennsylvania State Police.

The flag of the Kentucky State Police can be seen in several photographs on the website of the KSP's honor guard (www.kentuckystatepolice.org/hg/hg_history.htm). The flag appears to have a white field with a blue diagonal stripe running from upper hoist to lower fly. Centered on the field is the logo of the KSP in blue, gold, and white. The logo consists of a white outline of the state of Kentucky over a blue circle with a gold center. The word "KENTUCKY" is in gold across the top of the blue circle, the word "STATE" in gold across the white state silhouette, and the word "POLICE" in gold across the bottom of the blue circle.
