Description of the Flag

"We have attempted to find a flag of the City of Lafayette, but there doesn't appear to be one. The flag that flies over City Hall is the 'Acadiana Flag'."
Sam Lollar, reference librarian, Lafayette Public Library

The conclusion is that the Lafayette Consolidated Government has no official flag, but unofficially the "Acadiana Flag" is in use.

"Lafayette Consolidated Government officials unveiled on Thursday (27.10.2011) the new tag line and accompanying logo, which will now brand the local government on websites, street signs, business cards, letter head, flags, lapel pins and numerous other products. City-Parish President Joey Durel and other officials said the new logo will be easier, and less expensive, to reproduce than the old logo, which used a handful of fading colors to show an outline of Lafayette Parish and a fleur-de-lis. It also bore the tag line "Centre De La Culture Acadienne Et Creole." The new logo uses a more simplistic, eye-catching design with white negative space to show a cursive "L" between swaths of blue and red. It replaces the old logo, which had been in use since the beginning of LCG's existence in 1996. Lafayette-based design firm Right Angle spent about 10 months creating the new logo and considered nearly a dozen possible designs."
