The Hancock County courthouse, seat of the county government, flies a flag below the U.S. flag on its lone flagpole that has a white vertical stripe at the hoist with the word "MAINE" written vertically in red block letters, with the
balance of the field blue bearing a seal-like design that is blue in the center with an outline map of the county, encircled by a wide red band bearing the inscription "HANCOCK COUNTY" at the top and "JUNE 25 1789" (date of incorporation) at the bottom. The design is finished with a narrow white ring around the red.
