Independence, Missouri adopted a new city flag in June 2014: www.ci.independence.mo.us/Story.aspx?id=3902
Dave Fowler, 24 August 2014
This is the recently adopted city flag, taken from www.ci.independence.mo.us/Story.aspx?id=3902. I copied the flag off the website and brought it to FOTW standard. According to the flag's designer, "the symbolism of the wagon wheel and three stars ... representing the Santa Fe,
California, and Oregon trails and the City's role in the westward expansion of the United States. The colors of red, white, and blue provide a connection to the United States and Missouri flags, are a tribute to President Harry S. Truman
[from Independence], and honor an American city which shares A NAME with the Declaration of Independence."
