This is the second version of this flag, the first was Red and Blue. Red on top, Blue on the bottom divided by a white sash. I think the word Hamilton was in the sash, but I'm not sure of this. In the center running top to bottom or nearly that, was the device you see in the center of this flag. That of a Union soldier atop the monument to the war dead in Hamilton. The original flag was the result of a contest. I think this was a City Hall adoption. I'll try to find the old flag somewhere and get a picture of it.
