Description of the flag

The flag of the Town of Charlestown, Rhode Island, is white with town coat of arms outlined in blue on it. I received an document issued by the Office of the Secretary of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations dated 1992, with official description of the town coat of arms:

"Authentic coloring - Argent an Indian gules.
Translation - Silver background with a Red Indian.
Origin of name - Named for King Charles the 2nd. of England. Located in Charlestown is the royal Indian burial ground. This inspired the solitary Indian figure in Charlestown's coat of arms."

However, the town uses blue variant of the coat of arms on the flag, as I received from the Town Clerk Jodi LaCroix.

About the town:
"Charlestown is a town in Washington County, Rhode Island, United States. The population was 7,859 at the 2000 census. Charlestown was incorporated in 1738. The area was formerly part of the town of Westerly. It was in turn divided and the part north of the Pawcatuck River became the town of Richmond in 1747." - from Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlestown,_Rhode_Island
