"North Providence is one of 39 municipalities in the State of Rhode Island. Centrally located in the northwestern corner of the Providence metropolitan area, North Providence offers its residents many of the attractions of living close to a large city, yet the Town maintains a suburban flavor and small town atmosphere. Established in 1636 and incorporated as a town in 1765, North Providence has 32,411 residents according to the 2000 U.S. Census, making it the 8th most populated community in Rhode Island. It is a bustling suburban community offering a myriad of goods, services and outstanding parks and recreational areas."
