Description of the flag

The NAVA image at www.nava.org/ and shown in the American Flag Survey and American City Flags is very dark blue with a seal centered on it, all in shades of golden yellow on blue. The seal shows a the city skyline and shore against the backdrop of Mt. Rainier, encircled by a ring rim that reads "Seal of the City of Tacoma" from 9 to 3 o'clock and "1864" below, separated by unidentifiable marks.

The NAVA image in the American Flag Survey and American City Flags shows what appears to be a brightness transposition in the landscape scene, with naturally light areas in blue and dark ones in golden yellow. The rim of the seal is shown in golden yellow with very dark blue letters, opposite of what is expected from the usual blue over white representation of the seal. At commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Mount-rainier-over-tacoma.jpg a photo showing the same landscape as in the seal.
