Description of the flag

The St. Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation, chartered in 1954, is an agency of the Department of Transportation responsible for the construction, maintenance, and operation of the portions of the joint U.S.-Canadian St. Lawrence Seaway falling within U.S. territory. Its Canadian partner is the similarly named Saint Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation. The flag, showing a white trident between a yellow eagle and maple leaf on a green field (3:4 ratio), was designed in 1959 by the U.S. Army Heraldic Services Division--now the Institute of Heraldry--along with a seal of the same basic design.
