The American Yacht Club (AYC), located in Newburyport on the Merrimack River, is America's oldest continually operating private yacht club. On 9 May 1885, the 25 members of the newly founded AYC appointed Elisha P. Pride as the club's Commodore; the club was incorporated on 20 May 1890. Club membership has increased since then to over 300 members, with a fleet of over 150 boats.

The burgee of AYC, as shown graphically on the club's website, is made of two red triangles placed along the hoist, a white triangle in the middle and a blue triangle at fly.

The American Yacht Club, Newburyport, www.americanyachtclub.org, is listed in Lloyd's Register of American Yachts for 1905-6, as organised in 1885 and incorporated in 1890. Its burgee is pictured there as a red triangle, ca. 6:11, with a divided fly lozenge throughout, white before blue.

I found no information about the burgee itself on the club's website, nor on other flags, though a picture shows the race committee flag being flown.

I did notice that the club's newsletter, Sailorgram, issue August 2008, writes "Our Flagpole carried the national ensign, our State flag, and of course a newly enlarged Club Burgee." I take that to mean that the club uses a club flag of the same design as the burgee, though possibly with a smaller ratio.
