Chemehuevi Indian Tribe
Established in 1907, moved and reestablished in 1970.
At the present homeland that includes ~30 miles of the Colorado River frontage.
Their self-name is 'Nuwu' and they are part of the Southern Paiute
Nation related to those in Arizona and Nevada.
Their language belongs to the Numic branch of the Uto-Aztecan family.
Location: San Bernardino County, Southeastern California, on the Arizona Border and the Colorado River and on the shores of Lake Havasu.
Area: @ 32,000 acres
Population: @ 345, with over 200 more living outside the reservation.

Chemehuevis do own and operate a small casino - Havasu Landing Casino - in Havasu Lake, CA, which provides for their needs.
