This website shows the new GLBT (gay,
lesbian, bisexual, transgendered) flag for Gay South Africans. According to the website, the South African GLBT flag
serves dual purposes:
- to celebrate and maintain the liberties and the right to marry under the South
African constitution; and
- to address immediate and pertinent issues facing the South African GLBT
community such as workplace discrimination, “corrective rape” and the myth of
the “un-Africanness” of homosexuality.
The design has the Gay Pride (rainbow) flag as a background with white and black
outline of the South African national flag superimposed.
