Description of banner:
It is a blue - white vertical bicolour. The coat of arms is shifted to the top.

Albstadt Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
In a blue shield is a silver (= white) blossom of a Carline thistle. The shield has a golden (= yellow) chief superimposed by a black attire.
Meaning:
The city was established by merging of the former cities of Tailfingen and Ebingen on 1 January 1975. Before minor municipalities had been incorporated into Ebingen as follows: Pfeffingen incl. Burgfelden , Margrethausen (1971), Lautlingen (1972) and Laufen upon Eyach (1973). The thistle is a typical species growing on the slopes of Schwäbische Alb, a high plateau and namegiver of the city. The colours blue and white are representing Tailfingen, while the chief is representingen all parts of Ebingen, which all had belonged to Württemberg.

Description of banner:
The former city had a yellow - white - red vertical tricolour.
Meaning:
The colours were taken from the coat of arms in the same order. The colours in the arms were however ordered horizontally and the yellow stripe was superimposed by a black attire. The golden (= yellow) colour and the attire are a symbol of Württemberg while silver (= white) and red and been the colours of the Counts of Hohenberg, the former rulers. The symbols of Württemberg had been added in the arms since 1600, on seals since 1596.

The former city had a blue - white - black vertical tricolour.
Meaning:
he colours were those from the pre 1930 coat of arms, black and white were representing the Hohenzollern kin.
