The ratio is 3:5. It is a black over white over yellow horizontal tricolour. The coat of arms is in the centre of the flag.

Balingen Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
The shield is quarterly divided into silver (= white) and black. A black attire is in the golden (= yellow) chief.
Meaning:
To the village Balingen were granted city rights in 1255 by Count Friedrich of Zollern. Early seals just were quarterly divided. Balingen then belonged to the Lordship of Schalksburg, a dominion of the Zollern kin. It was sold to Württemberg in 1403. The last seal of the old type was proven in 1565. After 1535 acc. to Sibmacher (1605) the version with the attire, symbolizing the new rulers, prevailed. The colours of the stripes are the same as on the county flag. Black and white are the colours of the arms of Zollern, black and yellow of the arms of Württemberg. Balingen is the capital of Zollernalb County.

Banner and coat of arms were approved on 18 June 1975 by minister of interior of Baden- Württemberg, published in GABl 131/1976. The colours are in use since 1922.
