Description of flag:
The ratio is 3:5. It is a red flag with yellow horizontal stripes at the top- and bottom edge. The coat of arms is in the centre of the red field.

Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
In a golden (= yellow) field are eight red leaves connected at their stems and thus forming an 8-point star. The red chief is separated from the golden field by a wavy line.
Meaning:
According to source the leaves are symbolizing the former eight independent municipalities. The connection should symbolize unity and growth of the new city. The wavy line is canting. (Meer = sea).
