Coat of arms

Description of coat of arms:
In a blue field is a silver(=white) embattled rising wall. The open gate is shaped like a clover leaf. Above the gate is a silver(=white) tower topped by a red triangular roof added by two small torrets of the same colours and flanked by two silver(=white) embattled towers. In the open gate is a silver(=white) fleur de lis.
Meaning:
According to source the arms probably had been introduced in 19th century. They are however based upon the image of a seal from 14th century showing St.Mary in the open gate. Therefore it is understood that the fleur de lis is symbolizing St.Mary.
In 1905 another version had been introduced replacing St.Mary by a cross. The cross and the colours red and gold of the 1905 version had been chosen, because the municipality belonged to the archbishopric of Paderborn.
