Description of coat of arms:
The shield is divided per fess; above showing a red, statant lion, armed and tongued blue in a silver(=white) field; below showing a black cock with a red cockscomb standing on a green hill in a golden(=yellow) field. The cock is flanked by two blue upright fish.
Meaning:
According to Ralf Hartemink's webpage the fish as a symbol for fisheries and riches of fish, the cock is a symbol of the alertness of the local council, the lion is symbolizing the counts and dukes of Berg, the former rulers. The arms are based upon seal of the village from 1627.
