Tomislav Šipek

Tomislav Šipek - Stubicke Toplice - Croatia

     I'm from of Stubicke Toplice, a small town and spa, some 35 kilometers north of Zagreb, in the Republic of Croatia. I was born in the neighboring town of Zabok only because it has the nearest maternity hospital.
     My interest in flags has been ongoing since early youth, where I developed an interest in maps and atlases. In one atlas I discovered a page with the map of the world and the national flags. It seems maps have determined the direction of my education. Although I graduated with a degree in Geodesy from the University of Zagreb, my way of life has not been directed to cartography.
     This combination of interests in both flags and maps has resulted in a special interest in municipal flags, which I discovered seem infinite.
