The flag and arms of Cimanes de la Vega are prescribed by a Decree
adopted on 17 May 1999 by the Municipal Council, signed on 19 May 1999 by the Mayor, and published on 2 June 1999 in the official gazette of
Castilla y León, No. 104, p. 5,896 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:
Flag: Rectangular flag with proportions 2:3, made of a blue panel with a white diagonal stripe charged with three red disks, running from the lower hoist to the upper fly.
Coat of arms: Per pale, 1. Argent three bezants azure per pale, 2. Azure a statue of the Virgin de la Vega argent, grafted in base waves argent and azure. The shield surmounted with a Royal crown closed.
The Royal Academy of History did not accept the proposed arms, which include a realistic representation of the Virgin de la Vega, not suitable in heraldry. The approbation of the proposed flag was postponed, but the Academy warned that using on the flag only some elements of the arms and changing their color was not acceptable (Boletín de la Real Academia de la Historia, 1997, 194, 2: 397).
