Presentation of Santa María de la Vega

The municipality of Santa María de la Vega (410 inhabitants in 2009; 1,790 ha) is located in the northwest of Zamora Province, on the border with León Province.
Santa María de la Vega adopted its modern name in 1925; beforehand, the settlement was indeed made of the two villages of Verdenosa and Redelga.

Symbols of Santa María de la Vega

The flag and arms of Santa María de la Vega are prescribed by a Decree adopted on 12 January 2006 by the Municipal Council, signed on 19 January 2006 by the Mayor, and published on 30 January 2006 in the official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 20, p. 1,709 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular flag, with proportions 2:3, made of two equal horizontal stripes, the upper stripe white and the lower stripe green, with twelve five-pointed stars arranged in a circle, blue in the white stripe and white in the green stripe.
Coat of arms: Per fess serrated of three pieces, 1. Argent twelve five- pointed stars azure in orle, 2. Vert two fesses wavy argent two fesses wavy azure. The shield surmuonted by a Royal crown closed.
