On a blue field, an enlarged star, a red roundel in the center of the
star with the city symbol in the roundel. The symbol was adopted on
22 March 1940. Additional information, in Japanese, at the city

in a form of an anchor. It represents a seaport.

The flag was adopted on Sep 1st 1967.
The blue flag has a white and a dark blue flag emblem in the center which is
different from the town emblem adopted in Sep 1937.
The flag emblem is a stylized katakana ビホロ Bihoro in a form of ∞ infinity.
Both curved line symbolizes an azure sky and flying wings and the center ホ
in a dark blue does the town people’s solidarity.
There is an image of the flag in the website.
Please use the shade of a blue and a dark blue.

Most of Japanese municipalities use their emblem in the municipal flag
however 13 municipalities don't use the emblem but specially designed charge in
the flag.
The town emblem was adopted in Sep 1937. The town emblem is a stylized katakana
ビホロ Bihoro.

The town emblem was adopted on Oct 1st 2005 by Notice No 1 but
there is no flag law.The blue flag has a white town emblem in the center
and the kanji name in white vertically at the hoist.
The star symbolizes the Polar Star and the three rings do
a good timing, a good location and a concord of the people.

The city emblem and the flag were adopted on Mar 5th 2006.
The blue flag has a white city emblem in the center.
The city emblem is a combination of a stylized kanji 北 Kita of Kitami and
a weight which judges between autonomy’s right and wrong.
The blue color stands for Kitami’s sky, hope,development and youth
and the white color for snow and a simpleness.
It represents the city’s future ideal and a wish for being rich.
The flag proportion is 2: 3.
The diameter of the emblem is 5/9 height of the flag.

The town emblem was adopted on Nov 1st 1951 but there is no flag law.
The blue flag has a white and a black two color town emblem in the center.
The stylized kanji 北 Kita in the outer circle symbolizes Hokkaido 北海道 Kitami Region
北見地方 and the kanji 訓 Kun in the center.
The circle represents a mutual cooperation.
They say they use only a blue flag at the town hall building.
They don’t have a white flag officially.

The city emblem was adopted on Apr 1st 1941 and the flag was adopted on Jul 1st 1978.
The white flag has a green city emblem in the center.
The city emblem is a stylized kanji 紋 Mon of Monbetsu.
The circle symbolizes a city facing Okhotsk Sea and the center part
does a fishing boat. The white color stands for drift ice in Okhotsk Sea
and the green color for hope.
The flag proportion is 2: 3.
The diameter of the emblem is 3/5 height of the flag.

The center chevron symbolizes a mountain village, the people’s concord

It represents the village people’s solidarity and improvement.

The town flag was adopted on Apr 1st 1968 by Notice No 4.
The milk white flag has a blue flag emblem in the center
which is different from the town emblem.
The flag emblem is a stylized O and P .
The blur color stands for an image of the town which
weathers the hardships in Okhotsk Sea and the milk white color
for dairy as a main industry.
The letter P represents a fishing boat and O does the town
people's affinity and collective efforts.
