The city emblem and the flag were adopted on Oct 22nd 2006 by Notice No 418 and 419. The white flag has a red, a green, a blue three color city emblem in the center. The city emblem is a stylized kanji 本 Hon of Honjo. The red color stands for a vigor of the region which has a long history and a passion of the citizen, the green color for a farn land and a mountain forest which bring blessings, the blue color for an abandunt water of Tone River. It represents an image of the city which well harmonizes with nature and make a leap forward. The flag proportion is 2:3.
