The town emblem was adopted on Mar 12th 1958 but there is no flag law. The white flag has a maroon town emblem in the center. The town emblem is a stylized kanji 下市 Shimoichi. The thick and bold line and the thin and beautiful lines symbolize a concord and the circle does a happiness and a peace. The open space on left side represents an image of the town which developes to the future.
