The city emblem was adopted on Sep 24th 1954 by Notice No 34 but there is no flag law. The purple flag has a white city emblem in the center. The city emblem is a stylized kanji 天 Ten of Tenri in a form of a plum flower. The inner circle symbolizes a main area Tanbaichicho and the outer five circles do the merged former five towns and villages. It represents a solidarity and a development by a spirit of a concord.
