The town emblem and the flag were adopted on Sep 25th 2005 by Ordinance No 1. The white flag has a black town emblem in the center and red two horizontal stripes ( wider and thinner) at the upper part. The town emblem is a stylized kanji 石巴 Ishi Tomoe which is a form of yin-yang symbol and a steel square. It looks like a traditional Japanese family crest.  It represents a reconcillation and the steel square symbolizes a justness and a rule. The flag proportion is 2: 3. The height of the emblem is 3/5 of the height of the flag.
