The flag features the city symbol in white on a green field. Adopted in November 1962, the symbol appears to have become effective 20 January 1963 and features "turtle coffins".

The city emblem was adopted on Jan 20th 1963 by Notice No 2 and the flag was adopted on Jan 7th 1982 by Regulations No 1. The green flag has a white city emblem in the center. The city emblem is a combination of a stylized kanji 春 Kas of Kasuga with a clay pot coffin which was excavated from the remains in the city.
The flag proportion is 105: 150. The height of the emblem is 60/105 height of the flag.
