The city emblem and the flag were adopted on Oct 7th 1972 by Notice No 30 and No 31. The orange flag has a black city emblem in the center. The city emblem is a stylized katakana ヒ Hi of Hitoyoshi in a form of a flying bird. It represents the citizen’s concord, the beautiful nature, the exponential development of the industrial culture and an image of the city which makes a leap forward.
The flag proportion is 2: 3.
