On 26 October 2009, "Webregio" reports that the local association "Stichting Zaandijk" (Zaandijk Foundation) has ordered the manufacturing of the village flag, adopted in 1994 for the celebration of the 500th anniversary of the village.
As shown on a colour photo, the flag is horizontally divided red-yellow-blue with a square canton quartered 1. Gules a lion argent, 2. Argent a lion contourned gules, 3. Argent a lion gules, 4. Gules a lion contourned argent.

The flag shown below as adopted on 12 December 1962 is quite different, white with a thin, decentered red cross and a square canton made of the village arms, whose quarters are swapped in the newer flag.

The "new" flag of Zaandijk is derived from the 1938 Parading flag of Noord-Holland province (just like the Nibbixwoud flag discovered some time ago.
But why the Coat of Arms had been flipped is beyond me, as the way it looks seems to point at Westzaan or Wormerveer, or even present Zaanstad.

adopted 12 Dec 1962

Zaandijk is a former municipality in Noord-Holland province. In 1974 it merged into the new municipality of Zaanstad.
Flag: white with a red cross; in top hoist the municipal arms.
adopted 12 Dec 1962
Arms: quartered: first and fourth argent a lion rampant gules; second and third gules a lion rampant argent.
Granted 22 Oct 1817
The coat of arms is derived from the shield of the "banne" (area?) Westsanen en Crommenie, which in its turn was from the bailiff Jan van Blois. All Zaankanter municipalities had arms like this.

Nickname: "Krentekakkers" - the Zaandijkers were considered to be very avaricious. Hence the following rhime:

Op Zaandoik der benne ze roik
Deer ete ze roist met krente
Maar as op zundag de hoisbaas komt
Dan hebbe ze gien cente

At Zaandijk they are rich
They eat roice with currants
But when on Sunday the landlord arroives
They don't have any cents
