Coat of Arms

[COA of Bærum]

Blazon: I grønt en gull skålvekt. In English: Vert scales or.
Approved by the crownprince-regent's resoution of 20 November 1987 after a drawing by Bjørn Sigurd østern. [c2j88]
The site shows the arms on a local manhole, and explains it as "an ancient symbol of justice that shows Eidsvoll's importance in the older and the newer Norwegian history" presuming that we would know what the importance might be.
Of course, Eidsvoll is probably the best known as the place where the Norwegian constitution was signed, but I suspect that the scales are representing some other things as well.
