I have started with a presentation of Norwegian municipal flags. I have about
300 drawings that introduced the group. A small part of the flag is drawn from
photographs, while a larger number of flags drawn according to the instructions
from this site. How I have
noticed that there is no data on the dimensions of the flag so I suppose that
those of the municipal flag and are not so important. Mostly, I draw in the
dimensions of 8:11 or 1:1 depending what my aesthetic look nicer. I also noticed
that is used white flag emblem no matter what exists prescribed appearance of
the flag. However I have not found anything about flags of Molde, Skien,
Porsgrunn, Kristainsand and some smaller municipalities. If anyone has any
information is welcome.

From what I remember, the Norwegian municipal flags, with some notable
exceptions, are not defined any further then being banner of arms. Their ratio
is thus irrelevant, and what we find as ratio given is mostly what was reported
in use or some other source, but it should not mean that other ratios are not
possible. White flags with emblems are certainly in use somewhere, but
they are against what is prescribed (or suggested by central authorities),
of course...
For what I am aware, many municipalities do not use their flags at all, although
this may have changed in recent times. In theory any heraldic COA flag that was
officially granted may be useed in banner of arms form as the municipal flag.
Only municipal authorities are alowed to use their respective flag.
Well, so much from memory and in limited time.
