Blazon: I rødt en skrått framvoksende gull hakke. In English: Gules a pickaxe or in bend issuant from sinister base.
Approved by the royal resolution 23 December 1988 after a drawing by Sverre Morken.
It is explained on the municipal web site http://www.folldal.kommune.no/3862.3858.Kommunevapenet.html
"Pickaxe was an important tool of miners and thus symbolizes the mining industry, which was the reason for Folldal municipality to be established in 1914. The pickaxe also stands for farming - as it was essential tool in clearing the ground for farms in Folldal."
