Blazon: På grøn grunn to skråstilte sølv øksar, 1-1. English: Vert two bendwise axes argent in pale.
Approved by the royal resolution of 24 April 1992. A document from the municipal assembly minutes at http://www.fyresdal.kommune.no/~/media/Fyresdal/Dokument/Fakta_kommune/Kommunev%C3%A5pen_vedtak.ashx reveal that the final design was made by Halvor Holtskog Jr.
It represent the land and woods as the main background of the municipal industry, it is an active and powerful design and uses old axe forms as links with the past.
The document on coat of arms and flag usage regulations at http://www.fyresdal.kommune.no/~/media/Fyresdal/Dokument/Fellestenesta/Kommunevapen_reglar.ashx claims that the flag should be quadratic in shape. It also allows the use of wimpel and banner form for decorative usage.
