Approved on 16 November 1990.
Vaksdal municipality is situated in Hordaland county.
Vaksdal is a municipality where the textile industry has been a main way of life.
Thus the municipality chose the shuttle, used in weaving for passing the weft thread
between the warp threads, as its emblem. This symbolizes both the modern textile
industries and weaving in the homes in former times, connecting past and present.
The flag contains three black shuttles on a field of yellow. The idea originated
with a local artist E. Eriksen after a design competition had been held, but Charles Lunde,
a graphic designer, made the final design. Approval was granted in Royal resolution of 16 November 1990.
