Approved on 2 November 1984.
Modalen municipality is situated in Hordaland county.
The arms and flag of Modalen were designed by Egil Korsnes and consist
of three white spades, the blades pointing downwards, on a green field.
The design was approved by Royal resolution of 2 November 1984. The colour
green was chosen to reflect the fact that agriculture is a main industry
in the community. The spades are also used in agriculture, but the adoption
of the motive is also connected to the sand and gravel industry where the
spade has also been plied.
