About the flag

Masfjorden municipality is situated in Hordaland county.

A strange device appears on the flag of Masfjorden. The municipality chose a traditional tool, the hold, for their arms and flag. The hold is a device made of wood that holds something in a grip so that it is kept together, and the idea is to symbolise unity. Three of these objects appear on the flag, in yellow centred on a field of red. Approval was granted 28 September 1990, with Rune Garmann as the designer.

The heldrer clip is made of wood and traditionally used for fastening ropes around loads. They symbolize forestry as the main industry, but also the unity of three parts of the municipality
