Blazon: På blå grunn tre sølv flammer i skrå rekkje. In English: Azure three flames argent in bend.
Approved by the royal resolution of 15 May 1987 after a drawing by Inge Rotevatn. [c2j88]
The municipal site explains that the design was prepared for the celebration of 150 years of municipal legislation. The artist Inge Rotevatn was hired to prepare the design and among the three final designs the municipal administration chose the design of "three eldars" (the last word being ancient word meaning fire in Norwegian and fire warrior in Norse).
