Blazon: På gull grunn to spisse blå flankar. In English: Or issuant from
dexter and sinister two piles azure.
Approved by the royal resolution of 2 May 1986 after a drawing by Jarle Skuseth
after a proposal by Tor Torheim. [c2j87]

The municipal web site quotes the original explanation by Torheim (as far as I
can manage it):
"A design with fjords and mountains fits well for Stranda. The fjord bind all
parts of the municipality together and is central to administration, production
and transport. The fjord and mountains are central to tourism, encompassing
conservation landscape and cultural history location (mountain farms)".
The golden part of the arms is actually canting, representing the beach - i.e.
"strand" in Norwegian.
