Blazon: I rødt en stående sølv rype. In English: Gules a grouse argent.
Approved by the royal resolution of 4 March 1988 after a drawing by Kari Vårhus Sagen.
The flag is prescribed in the ratio 3:4.
A grouse (ptarmigan) is a game bird typical for the region. Initially the design was blue shield with the silver bird, but it was pointed out by the central authorities that this is too similar with Enontekiö in Finland (the municipal site gives Enorteliø, but it must be a typo; Enontekiö indeed uses azure a grouse argent, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enonteki%C3%B6), so the shield was changed to red.
