Coat of Arms

[COA of Fosnes]

Blazon: I gull en svart åregaffel. English: Or a rowlock sable.
Approved by the royal resolution of 13 November 1992.
Rowlock (oarlock, spur) is a brace that attaches an oar to a boat, making a fulcrum for rowing. Wikipedia provides a small article on the coat of arms development. In a cute video the mayor of Fosnes explains the coat of arms here (and if you search for "kommunevåpen" on the site you may get a few more).
