Blazon: I blått tre oppvoksende gull årer, den midterste nedsenket. In English: Azure three oars or issuant from the base the central one abased.
Approved by the royal resolution of 3 July 1987 after a drawing by Jarle E. Henriksen. [c2j88]
The local history web site explains the origin o fthe municipal hame from Norse "her" meaning military meeting place, ie. the place where fleet gathers. Thus the arms are canting.
