I sølv tre oppvoksende svarte skarver. Argent three cormorants issuant from the base sable.
Approved by the royal resoution of 18 November 1986 after a drawing by Arvid Sveen.
Wikipedia article identifies the birds as shags, being the species of cormorants. The http://www.ngw.nl/heraldrywiki/index.php?title=R%C3%B8st explains the choice of design from a local legend of three brothers who could transform themselves into cormorants. [c2j87] does the same, mentioning the story was recounted by Asbjørnsen and Moe, the famous collectors of Norwegian folklore. [c2j87] also claims that the designer made the brids have a "fairytale and surreal touch" ("eventyraktig og uvirkelig preg")
