Description of the flag

According to the Spanish Wikipedia, the Iquitos city/district flag is almost identical to the Loreto region flag, which the city is capital of: Both are green with the emblem on it.

Both capital city and regional emblems are very similar (which is surely intentional), so both flags look quite the same. The only differences are the handle of the machete: black (in the regional emblem) vs. white (in the municipal emblem), the crest on top of the shield: a helm vs. a sun (rising or setting), the legend on the bordure: «Maynas Peru - Iquitos - Amazonia» vs. «Carpent tua poma nepotes» / «Municipalidad de Maynas», and the scene on the shield: naturalistic river with five identical ships vs. blue field with seven diaparate-shapen ships and the word «Iquitos».

Maybe these are just two versions of the same coat of arms and therefore there’s only one flag, doubling for both region and (capital) city. (Loreto Region ranks size-wise between Japan and Germany; Iquitos city have some 400 thousand inhabitants.)
