Olsztyn county

Here is a proposal of the Coat of Arms of Olsztyn County (Powiat Olsztyński), Warmińsko-Mazurskie vojvodship. The former name of Olsztyn was in German: Allenstein.
Olsztyn County (Polish: powiat olsztynski) is a unit of territorial administration and local government (powiat) in Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, northern Poland. It was created on 1 January 1999 as a result of the Local Government Reorganization Act of 1998. Its administrative seat is the Olsztyn city, although the city is not part of the county (it constitutes a separate city county).

This controversial project combines the shields of the new Coat of Arms of Olsztyn city, the old Coat of Arms of Allenstein (Coat of Arms in the Nazi-epoche 1933-1945) and the Coat of Arms of Warmian Region. In my opinion this proposal won't be acceptable.

Olsztyn county new Coat of Arms

adopted 27 Jun 2008

The Olsztyn County Council rejected the proposed Coat of Arms and flag (reported by Jens in March 2008) and adopted a new Arms on June 27, 2008 (resolution # XVI/201/2008) described as follows:
"The heraldic shield is divide horizontally into two fields.
The upper field shows the old Arms of the Warmia's "capitulum" (collegiate chapter): half cross with the left arm and a triply crenelated gate. The gate is of red color, half-lifted grate and the half-cross are gold.
The background is blue.
On the lower, red field there is the white Lamb of God (Agnus Dei) with the gold aureole, turned to the right and holding a golden cross with the white banner charged with the red cross.
From the wound in the lamb's side, the blood is dripping to the gold chalice underneath."

The flag was obviously not adopted as there is no mention of it in the resolution.
