It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain white field (village rank).

The arms are Azure two chestnuts Or open Gules per fess and in chief three wind-cocks Argent and in base a water mill wheel Or. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "ZOIO".
