Shield Or, a labarum (= flag with cross-shaped pole) Gules with a cross Latin Argent fixed sable, flanked by two swallows Volant affront Proper in chief and two grapevines leaved Vert in base, the dexter one fruited Purpure, the sinister one fruited Argent. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "FREGUESIA DE CARTAXO".

Cartaxo Commune was one of the pre-2013 communes of the Cartaxo municipality (q.v.); it had 11 370 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 19.1 km².
