About the Flag

It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain white background (village rank) .

Coat of arms

The arms are Purpure a chuch Argent garnished sable. In chief a Paschal Lamb Proper. Mural crown argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "SÃO JOÃO BAPTISTA".
Meaning:
The building probably is St. John's local parish church, whilst the Paschal Lamb is his attribute.
Source: I spotted this flag in the local tourist office on 1 October 2013.
