The Town of Čazma is located some 25 km south-west of Bjelovar, 30 km east of Zagreb. It has about 8,000 inhabitants, the town itself some 3,000. Čazma had the Municipality status until 1997, when it was upgraded to a Town.
In the 13th century, the place was granted marketplace rights. In the 16th century, the town was conquered by the Turks and made the capital of a sanjak, soon moved to Pakrac. The town was liberated in the 17th century and refortified.

Coat of arms of Čazma - Image by Željko Heimer, 10 July 2004
The coat of arms is in a red shield on a green mount a white church with two blue roofed bell-towers between ruined yellow embattled walls and in base a blue wavy line.
The wavy line represents river Česma, whose name is a variation of the town's name. The St. Mary Magdalene parish church is a Romanesque church with Gothical elements, being the biggest Romanesque church in Croatia, baroquized in the 18th century. The fortifications seen on the arms are no longer visible today.
