The burgee of Freie Vereinigung der Tourensegler
Grünau 1898 e.V. and a few others - Hamburger
Segel-Club e.V., Segler-Verein Trave
e.V.,
Wilhelmshavener Segelclub e.V.
- are clearly inspired in the Imperial war
ensign. I assume that all those clubs were established at least before
World War Two.

The German abbreviation "e.V." stands for eingetragener Verein,
registered association.

I have drawn the whole series with proportion 3:5 as a simplification.
Burgee images shown on the yacht club pages are often not very clear when
they include real flags, and I do not trust too much the computerized renditions
shown on other pages. Regarding Spandau
and other ancient yacht clubs, I believe their classical burgees are in
the classical 3:5 proportion. Some more recent burgees have less classical
designs (I mean not "heraldical") and may have less "classical" proportions.
